Report - Tahquitz - The Uneventful 5.5 (June. 2005) |
'Jas' & 'Jeff S.'
On the North Face, our route 'The Uneventful' 5.5, 8 pitches, though mostly a sustained 5.1 with a couple of sections of 5.5-ish:
Jas & Jeff geared up and ready to go:
1st pitch is up to the 2nd bush:
Back the way we just came:
Looking out at Suicide Rock from first pitch belay station:
2nd pitch goes well past that tree:
A look back down:
Jeff is going to start the 3rd pitch which goes past all these trees:
The top of the 3rd pitch has a nice belay under a tree:
Look there's more people coming up another route (North Butress, pretty sure). and down to the right you can see a patch of snow:
4th pitch looks nice:
Pretty sure that was 3rd pitch belay tree down there:
5th up, looks straight up but not that bad, really:
From up on top of this pitch, it looks kinda easy, if high up:
Actually under another nice tree:
Jeff geared up . . . . and so crowded, there is another guy who came up and belayed at the junction spot too:
Jas looking well protected, 6th route actually goes up to the right here:
Right up this way, I thought this was the hardest part, tricky "chimney" action:
And the belay was the most exposed yet of the day:
7th pitch wasn't too tough, all "down-hill" after that hard 6th-one:
Belay is pretty damn high up though:
8th, and last, home-free!:
And champs:
1st big multi-pitch-completion-smile:
now long . . . long . . . walk down :-)
